To Customer Service: The Leesburg, VA Books A Million location is far too small for the traffic and inventory. But you have one outstanding employee who should receive commendation and a bonus for her hard work. Left alone for a couple of weeks due to circumstances, she carried all the load herself with no help, and did beautifully. She has been with BAM for some time, needs to be promoted, is always courteous over the phone, and is always there... Read more

BAM renewed my book club membership for $25 without my authorization. They're refunding the charge, but I have to wait 1-3 days for the refund money to hit my bank account. Why is that? They certainly leapt to remove the money -- why is there a delay in getting it back to me? In the interim I'll get an overdraft since payday isn't until Wednesday and funds were very low. Thanks for nothing, BAM. The book club membership was a total waste of... Read more

I ordered a book which was promised to me in 2-7 days. 14 days later I call and they claim they will contact company. Apparently they were using a 3rd party and never notified me during ordering! No news 3 days later. I call and they say its been shipped. I ask for proof, turns out they never reached out! I finally got them to cancel. Don't pacify customers. Be honest and let them know where their product was. I tried to communicate via email... Read more

Why sell a book you do not have ? The book I order was out of print !!! Why not be up front and say so and that you needed to order it?? How do you back order a book that is out of print in a week ?? . This is a bad business practice. Done by vendors like you. I am posting this so others do not waste their time with you. "Back ordered items are still pending in our system. We will fulfill your order as quickly as possible, typically... Read more

The store manager i believe if im not mistaken his name is Ed. i didn't find his presents there relevant. It looks like to me that the employees arent happy to have him there. He thinks that what comes out of his mouth is funny and its not. To me he is not a manager at all in my opinion. i would gladly like to not see him there. He is too over powering and wants everything to be up to his standards which means he wants everything to be perfect... Read more

Surprised by the cost of three books recently purchased at BAM, I checked the prices of each of them vs. Amazon and Barnes & Noble. BAM's pricing was higher than both competitors by 10%, 47%, and 67%, i.e., over 40% higher for the entire purchase! The "Bargain Prices" implied in their ads is misleading. They also insist that you listen to their spiel about something called the "Millionaires Club". After being significantly over-charged, they... Read more

I was buying a book at the cash register and the cashier slides a piece of paper to me with various magazines on them and tells me I can choose three free magazines. I circled the ones I wanted, payed for my book and that was that. Eventually I got the magazines, it was mostly ***, but some of the articles were interesting. As the months went buy, I kept getting them. I eventually started just chucking them because most of the stuff is low... Read more

I purchased several book last week to take on a trip. I paid for the books and was offered free magazines, which I declined. I enjoyed the book and returned to purchase the sequel on 7/15/16. The cashier assisted me in finding the book as it was still in the back and had not been put out for customers to purchase. I checked the website before I left home and found it was in stock. When I checked out I was reprimanded by Ashley, (id#132236)... Read more
