BAM sold me defective item.
I bought a Nook eReader last week but it turned out to be a defective item. They refuse to deal with the problem. They said the item was in good condition when they shipped the item. The package looked good. Maybe mail man caused the problem. They even let me contact Barnes and Noble company instead of replacing it. It is in my closet now. I am now trying to contact BN for the issue. Hopefully it can be solved soon. What a trash company. Never to order from them again. I wish they will be out of business soon.

Closed store after i became a member
In July of this year 2011, i finally gave in to the standard question...do you have a Books a Million membership. I have to pick up summer reading books for my kids. After I became a member, they closed their doors. If their website is correct I will have to travel 30 minutes to the nearest book store. That's just wrong! They knew they were going to close this store and there were no other book stores in the area. I could have saved my money and became a Barnes n Nobles member. They are 15 minutes away and open!

Books-A-Million
I received an Audio CD book from a friend as a birthday gift a few days ago that had the Books-A-Million sticker on the back of the package. I returned to the local Books-A-Million store (Williamsburg, VA) which is where the item was purchased and was told, without a receipt I could not return or exchange the audio for another because it was store policy. I understand that without an receipt that I would not be able to get any money back for the item, what I do not understand is why I could not have just got another audio book in exchange. I refuse to ask someone for a receipt for something that was given to me as a gift and basically telling them, Thank you for the gift but I would prefer something else. I have been a buyer from your store for many years, but no longer will I every purchase anything from Books-A-Million again due to this policy. I will also make sure that all my friends and family are aware and encourage them to shop elsewhere.

Insult to ALL Stay @ Home Moms
I was told by an employee today that most of the people who buy their discount card are stay @ home moms "who have nothing better to do!"!!!! And they definitely do NOT go above and beyond - they just point and say "over there"! ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** *** * * * * * * 8 8 8 * * * * * **8 888 88 * * * * 8 8 8 8 8 8 * * * * 8 8 8 8 8 8 * * * * 8 8 8 8 8 8 * * * * 8 8 8 8 8 8 * * * * 8 8 8 8 8 8 * * **

Suprise in Children's books
I was sitting in the floor in the children's section of Books-A-Million in Sevierville, TN this weekend when my daughter says "Gross...why are they licking their privates?" You can't imagine my horror when I realized she had found a Penthouse magazine on the bottom shelf of the children's section and was looking at a full page photo of a woman performing oral sex. My six year old daughter now has been exposed to *** thanks to Books-A-Million!! It is bad enough for *** to be sold in the same store as children's books, but to have it randomly sitting around is outrageous!! After several phone calls and e-mails I have learned that most major book stores sell "adult magazines" and this Books-A-Million store has received several complaints from parents whose children have found them in the children's books. I do not think Books-A-Million is trying to correct the problem, so be aware when you take you children to the book store.

That bites, but you can still go online to order the books. BAM is in the business to make money, not to tell people not to sign up for membership, plus as you stated the next BAM is only 30mins away. No, they're not going to say "this store's doors will be closing soon, so we don't recommend purchasing the membership." Borders was asking people to sign up for their paid membership right up until they closed all their stores and went out of business.
Well, I know this is of little help, but you can use it on their website...it does still stink though.
