The cashier blantantly lied to us, leading us to lose money. We received several books a million gift cards for Christmas totalling $150. We kept careful track of what we were spending and stopped ourselves at about $135, accounting for tax as well. When we reached the...

I visited the BAM at Towne Center in BR, LA on Saturday with my husband. He saw a book he wanted on the clearance rack that had a $10 sticker price tag on the back. I returned on Tuesday and the book was still there, in the same place and had the same $10 price...

As a former employee, I would like to apologize for the crew that you had to deal with. Anyone who has EVER worked for the company knows that clearance books are not to be scanned but added manually, because the sticker is the only thing to differentiate the clearance and sale books from the others.

I have worse problems with the company (hence the anonymous).

The cashier was rude.I asked for an Italian Cream Soda then she asked what flavor? I asked what are the flavors? She proceeded to get a piece of paper from under the register...In the meantime a manager comes out of nowhere and they start playing around(while I'm standing there waiting for my drink). I was never asked if I had a discount card nor was I greeted. After giving me my drink, she didn't say anything nor did the manager.I come to this BAM alot and have never been treated so rudely.

Wow that is bad. As an employee I can tell you I personally would have reported them to the GM (General Manager ) on the spot. I am so sorry.

Books A Million in Brunswick, Georgia - I don't like lists of what I read being kept...

Recently went to your Brunswick, GA location to purchase a couple of books. Found what I wanted easily enough, but when I went to pay for the books, the cashier was very pushy about joining the loyalty club. I was asked several times if I wanted to join and declined every time with the clerk giving some feigned expression of disappointment and going, "awww...." each time I said no. I'm not a fan of these loyalty clubs (a more accurate description of them would be tracking club) and i find the idea of having to **pay** for the privilege of my reading habits being tracked and monitored obnoxious.

They have to meet a quota of new sign ups. If they don't, they could be fired

The card doesn't keep track of anything save for the information you give while signing up.

Even that is just for your convenience as you can use your phone number for membership look up rather than having to need the physical card.

So you buy several books at a time and get pissed when someone tried to sell you a membership that would discount all those books for a whole year? Let alone the coupons alone would be worth it but you can mix that with the 10-40 percent discount. Seriously wow.

I work here and I agree. If we don't sell these magazines or discount cards, we're reprimanded for it and our hours are cut, and selling them is something that adds to our already compromised paycheck.

People, we'll tell you everything you need to know about the magazine offer.

If you have questions, ask them. If I can't answer them, I'll get a manager to help me out.

Sorry we only work in retail.

But we still need retail associates in this world. Be polite to us.

Books A Million in Charlotte, North Carolina - Pushy cashier at the Concord, NC location

I went into the Books a Million in Concord Mills Mall to see if they had books & games for purchase. They did have 2 items that I was looking for, so I took my items to the lone cashier. From the moment I got there I was assaulted with things like offers for cards, etc. I explained that I don't live in the area, but was still being assaulted with more information about local events. I ended up buying a pound of coffee for the troops, which I found out was legitimate. However, the cashier should have told me that it was $9.99 to do so. Also, the register display was turned away from me, so I couldn't see the price of my purchases easily. I don't know the consumer laws in North Carolina, but in my home state by law a register display has to be visible to the customer. After reading some online reviews about this company it is clear to me why they haven't been allowed into my part of the country, and I will not be shopping at any of their locations again.

Books A Million in Kingsport, Tennessee - Refused return on Christmas gift

My daughter received a dvd from Booksamillion from her Aunt. The day before Christmas(same day she received the gifts) we took them back along with a few others she had received that she didn't want. I told the cashier I didn't have a receipt for the dvd but did for the other things. She said no problem. Rang us up and then proceeded to make a big production when I asked for cash back instead of it going back on my mothers card. Hollared for a manager for a 304, cashier beside her said REALLY a 304?? Manager arrived and stated a 304?? I had to look back to see what happened. I don't know what a 304 is...as far as I am concerned I was tagged as a shoplifter, embarrased and humiliated in front of a line of customers for merely trying to make a return. The she shoved the unopened dvd back to me and said can't help you with this one. Gave me a dirty look and hollared Next! I will never shop there again. Have returned all gifts for my kids bought there and will rebuy elsewhere. Will never buy another thing there nor will my mother or sister after this.

There was no refund line...I walked straight in the door and over to the counter for refund processing. The man I talked to watched me walk in and was the one who looked at the cashier and said "Really a 304!?" He knows as do I that I didn't walk around the store and pick it up and there was no reason for me to be treated rudely since I was not rude to them.

I was treated rudely from the time the cashier started my refund until the end.

Since it was Christmas and most places will do returns without a receipt I didn't think anything of it. Even without a receipt I should NOT have been treated as rudely as I was in front of an entire store full of shoppers the day before Christmas.

She was NOT NICE and as I stated before if they had told me upfront they could not accept the dvd without a receipt it would not have been a problem. Instead I was told in a nice voice no problem by the man handed off to the grinch female cashier...who got on the phone and yelled for a 304 before even beginning the transaction which is what confused me then dealing with everything else and then shoving that one item back at me and saying NOPE!

Was I rude up until that point NO! Was I rude after that NO! Will I ever shop there again H...

NO!! I tell everyone how I was treated there....everyone.

No receipt and you requested cash back? For all they know, you could have been a shoplifter!

You could have picked that DVD up off the shelf and tried to scam them out of money. It happens all the time. No where I have ever worked or heard of, gives cash back for a return without a receipt. Most places will return it on the card it was originally purchased on, OR give you a store credit.

No wonder the manager gave you a dirty look, she probably thought you were a scammer.

Read the receipt or look up a store's return policy before returning anything. That should protect you from being seen as a thief.

I've worked at a booksamillion and not sure what a 304 is, but it may be a warning for rude customers. They have a strict return policy stated on their receipts, ALL of them. No one wants to do your return and lose their job because you lacked any proof o show where the item had been purchased.

Having worked in one of these stores, I know one of two things happened. The barista didn't tell you about the membership, in which case you should be angry.

More often than not, I will FULLY explain the card and people will still come back in and tell me I didnt tell them about the card. When saying yes to anything, be sure you have all the information.
