Called the only number available for Books A Million which is an automated system. They had the nerve to try to get me to continue by offering 2 free issues as opposed to receiving a refund which was my original intentions when making the call. I thought I would get...

I never received any correspondence from the service before I saw the charges posted on my debit account. Why does Books a million get away with giving someone else your debit account information? I will never do business with this store or company again. I will also...

Next time you sign up for a magazine trial, actually read what you're signing. It's a free trial just like with Amazon or Spotify. If you don't call and cancel you'll be automatically charged.

I canceled my card for tge same reason of getting multiple charges. I called the nunber and its a voice recording the whole way. This is rediculous. Now tell me how I get a new card and the same subscription is on it. How do I cancel this stupid charge? I am never shopping at books a million again. A year I have been dealing with this crap.

Everything that could have gone wrong did. I was just running into BAM really quickly for a last minute Christmas present for my mom, and once I found the book (a 30 minute feat in itself because they have NO organizational system), I spent 30 minutes with the most...

Book ASimple solution, amazon.comThe last two experiences I am had at Books A Million were similar.1st it's hard to find anything and often when you do the book is in poor shape, beat up and folded. The toys or record players have previously been opened.2nd Once you to decide to check out, they harass you to no end with "up sales", "membership offers" and yes "*Free magazine offers" ...And people seriously wonder why retail is dead?

You can get the item new, in stock, and for the same and often better price. Also you do not have to deal with pushy cashiers.

I ran into the same problem. Signed up for the member ship and was told "Pick your 3 free magazines that come with it".

No mention of cancelling before you're charged. I've been fighting for 3 months to get my magazines cancelled. Thought I had succeeded only to have another charge show up a month later. I think I finally found a number that works, 877-813-4977.

It's all automated but was worth it if it actually works. Just make sure you say NO to all her offers, no matter how good it sounds, and she'll cancel and refund your money. At least she claims to...I have a confirmation number so if I don't see my money back in 2 days, as promised, I'm going to be making some heated phone calls. I've had it with BAM and this magazine scam!

I won't be going back either...I don't care how far I have to drive to go to a different bookstore. Oh, how I miss Borders!

A common scam. BAM gets a fee for signing people up and the sap(you) is so excited to get something for free that they fail to read the "fine print"---which says you must cancel within a certain length of time or you will be charged for the auto renewal of the subscription.

People who insist on paying for everything with a credit or, worse a debit card are the prime victims of this. You should have gotten something in writing describing the workings of this free subscription program but you failed to read it.

It is possible you didn't, in which case you could try disputing the charges by claiming a failure to inform. Good luck.

BAM was a company I trusted. Yep, me, too.

And I'm a cautious person. Same thing. In a hurry at Christmas. Believed the cashier who told me same thing.

Free. Free. Free. Wasn't so.

Just spent 30 min trying to cancel with someone who obviously was not born in this country. I'm not racial, just needed a correct-English speaker. And the automated set-up is so short, it is impossible to enter all numbers in short amount of time, so you can't cancel if you can't get the numbers entered. I'm sure it's set up that way so people will get frustrated.

So, for those of you who are quick to judge us, must be hard sitting on your pedestal, looking down while everyone else in world makes a mistake. Get off the minor's back. People can have credit card experience without having fraud experience. I have both and still got picked because I trusted BAM.

Her mom was a nice lady who shared her experience trying to help others. For you holy rollers, if you didn't need help, why are you here? Maybe go stalk somewhere and someone else. For those of you who still need help, try this website: magcustomerservice.com.

It's the service that is supposed to cancel all this mess. I cancelled both ways. By phone & by this website. Hopefully, I'll be reimbursed.

If not, then I will call my credit card company. Be blessed.
